DPM 2012 RC and Remote SQL Instance Error ID 832 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been trying to install DPM 2012 RC on a new server pointing to an existing SQL Instance and keep getting the following error towards the end of setup:

*** Error : Setup cannot grant the FHOSSQLTST001.FLHOSP.NET\DPMDBReaders$FHOVDPM001 account access to the DPM database.
Verify that SQL Server is properly installed and that it is running.
    ID: 832

We have made sure that the account accessing the SQL instance has full Admin rights on the SQL box as well as admin rights to the SQL instance. Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this error?

  • Is your Remote SQL server a Domain controller? I had the same problem with DPM 2010 installaion. I used a member server for the SQL instance and DPM got installed like a cham! for details.

  • Yes, that is true.. I was trying in my test environment where SQL was intalled on AD server (remote ofcourse). Installed SQL on another remote server and installation went fine with the DPM 2012.

    Hope this helps !

  • Try with the Netbios name of domain instead the fqdn when configuring the remote sql server.
