windows 7 doesnt recognize logon password RRS feed

  • Question

  • my custommer has a dell inspiron note book running widows 7 home premium with face recognition software for log on. it no longer recognizes her and when we switch it off ( the face recognizing log on ) and type in the correct password it says invalid profile and wont log on  if I type the wrong password it says invalid password.  Her admin account is her user account so I don't have an alternative account to log on to.  Is there any way to get this machine to run?

  • One idea:  Boot the Windows disc and investigate the recovery options there, e.g., do a System Restore.

Disclaimer:  It's been a long time since I did this and the above is from memory, but I'm sure I've seen the ability to access System Restore from a recovery type bootup.  I think I remember booting a Windows DVD, but it's possible it was an option I got by hitting F8 during startup.  Stupid old brain, leaks like a seive.

  • Hi johny Mitch, I suggest you first check the following links:

Microsoft Support Engineers cannot help you retrieve passwords of files and features in Microsoft products that are lost or forgotten. This is for your security. However, regarding the "invalid profile" error, can you let us know the detail error message?
