Secondary Master not detected at boot RRS feed

  • Question

  • Primary Master detected, Secondary Slave detected (CDROM), SATA RAID 0 (VIA) detected, External USB Drive detected, but secondary master not detected.

Strange thing is, that Device Manager's "Detect new hardware" immediately finds this, and installs all partitions (Opening each as a folder or as "Auto Play". The detection is not permanent, however, and needs to be re-done on each boot. I'm suspecting a registry edit is needed?

  • (I am assuming, of course, that the problem drive is PATA, based on the fact you specified the RAID setup you have is SATA and did not mention the interface used by the problem drive. If this is not the case let me know.)

Have you tried setting the jumper on the HDD currently set to Secondary Master to become Primary Slave? Or is there a physical location problem preventing you from connecting it to the same ribbon cable as Primary Master?
