Transfers From Exchange Atendant Failing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since moving over to Lync we are not able to get calls to properly transfer to users from the Exchange 2010 SP1 Attendant that answers our main number.  The attendant properly the transfer the call to the selected extension, but it fails on the Lync side.

In looking at the SIP traffic, we can see a REFER message sent from the Exchange server to the Lycn server specifying the 4 digit extension the call should be transferred to.  That REFER is then sent on to the Mediation server.  The Mediation server then forwards it on to our PSTN gateway (Quintum Tenor) where the REFER fails because the gateway does not properly handle the 4 digit extension.

Is this expected behavior? It seems like the Lync server or Mediation server should be albe to map the extension to the proper user without going all the way out to the gateway.  We do have user's Tel URIs configured with extensions and our dial plan includes a translation for 4 digit extensions.

Transfers were working properly with our OCS 2007 R2 server before cutting over to Lync, so seems like something change in the way this is handled.
