Using Windows 7 Ultimate, How Do I Allow Users to Restart Windows Services Without Providing Admin Rights RRS feed

  • Question

  • I administer a small network of computers (5) and for various reasons, cannot provide admin rights to the group account.  We run a monitor and control program that requires its services to be restarted once a change has been made, such as adding a piece of equipment or changing a parameter.  Unfortunately, Windows 7 won't allow the group account to restart services.  I even placed that acct in the Power User group and removed association to any other group, but that didn't work.  This M&C program needs to constantly monitor the network, so I don't think setting up timed tasks would work too well, but maybe I'm wrong.  Is there a way, as with legacy operating systems to allow the Power User group to restart services, either individually or across the board?
