Hosted Lync: call forwarding 'from number'

Question
-
Hello,
We've set up a hosted lync environment, so we have different clients with different domains that use our Lync environment. Each client has some numbers assigned to their company, so they can be charged for the phone calls they make with these numbers.
The problem now is with call forwarding. If somebody forward his call, the from number is actually our general number. Also when somebody forwards to his voicemail, it's our general number that calls to the voicemail. So all our clients using the same general number for call forwarding/voicemail/etc. We're searching for a way to set a different number for this use for each client. Is that possible?

This is being set by your carrier. What you'll need to do is contact the carrier and tell them you business model requires the ability to "spoof the ANI". This is a common thing for telephony services to require and the carrier should be able to allow it. Your company will need to sign a waver stating that you won't abuse this service and that you understand it will not be able to be used for 911 calls.
You'll want to learn about two key components to telephony, the ANI and the DNIS. The ANI is the Automatic Number ID (aka the Caller ID, the number you are calling from, the from address) and the DNIS is the Dialed Number Identification Service (aka the number you are calling, the to address).

Lync is not the culpret here that is rewriting the from number. Some more information about your environment would help here such as your voice configuration (ie: PSTN - gateway - Lync or PSTN - PBX - Gateway - Lync). Your carrier might also be setting the outbound from number for you - I would start with them, then look at each hop in your connection to the PSTN.

Hi Mark,
Our mediation server is connected directly to a SIP-Trunk, there's no gateway in between.

OK did you verify the carrier is not rewriting the number for you?

You can assign a internal number for every client.
Why all the clients using a general number?
Do you mean there is only one external number for outbond in your deployment?
