Hi,
I have downloaded the SQL Server Express 2008 and 2008 R2. I wanted to create an mdb. file to use in a C# program (using VS 2010 Express) but I am rather uncertain about whether it is a functioning database I have downloaded. The program seems to exist in the programmes folder, and I can access the "SQL installation center" and get the installation bit, but it asks me about the location of the "installation media". I have no idea about what it is and where its found. Can anybody help me out? I am having loads of problems downloading and getting this to work. I wonder if there is a comprehensive description from A to Z of how to make the thing run?? I am running Vista Home premium btw.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi,
Is setup completed?
if not try to move setup files to c drive if you enough space. Start installation from C drive using run as administrator rights.

thanks to you too, Madhu. I still got some issues, if you have answers they would be welcome. I've been trying for about a week to get this now, so I'm starting to get excited ;)
I am trying to install the management studio so I can get the visual tools for creating diagrams, but the installation won't allow me to select any items. That was one of the other problems I got into before. Can you advise? Thanks.

Client tool might have already installed. Client tool can install only once in a system and it is not instance specific.
type SSMSEE in RUN window and see if you are geting the tool invoked

Madhu,
ok problem solved (I hope). I had to move the installation file of the SQL Server Management Studio to the C-drive, install it as an administrator (as proposed by Ramesh) and during the installation process select "install SQL Server" instead of installing a new element to SQL Server (or something like that). I think that wording in the installation process is seriously misleading at least for an amateur like myself.
Thanks for your help.
