Switch problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • I currently attend Cal Poly Pomona and in my dorm I am granted one Ethernet port from the wall. I have 2 (soon to be 3) devices that require internet: My laptop, my game console, and soon to be another game console. I purchased a switch to solve this problem and I connects my game console beautifully but for some reason my laptop refuses to take in any internet at all. Is there any reason for this? Please help.

  • Hi, how are you?

    Just a few questions:

If you connect just the laptop to the switch you are able to browse the internet?

If you connect the switch and the console(off course and XBOX one), you are able to browse the internet?

If you connect just 1 device and the switch that you bought to the internet and can browse the internet it seems that you have a mac address filtering, per switch port on your dorm, like the hotels do..... but let see what happen with the above tests..

Please let us know your comments,
