DPM 2012 SP1 Update rollup 3 issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • After installing KB2706783 on DPM 2012 SP1 with rollup 2 installed it says an update agent is available but when I go to install it I receive a failure on every protected server that I try to install it to. The installation of update worked fine. Not sure why this is happening.

  • Hi,

There is an announcement at the top of this forum that details the issue.  We're working on a permanent fix but in the meantime:

Due to a couple of undetected regressions in DPM 2012 Sp1 UR3, the download has been temporarily been pulled.

Description of Update Rollup 3 for System Center 2012 Service Pack 1
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2836751

    Data Protection Manager Update (KB2853210)
    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=2853210  <--- PULLED TEMPORARILY

If you already have it installed, you might experience one or both of the following problems:

Problem-1) Updating agents via the DPM console result in the following error:

    Agent operation failed. (ID: 370)

The protection agent installation failed because the files needed to install the protection agent (version 4.0.1920.0) are missing from the PS.Domain.com DPM server. (ID: 317)

    WORKAROUND
    ==========
Upgrade using Disconnected Agent flow and refresh in Agents Tab brings the Agents active in UR3 level

Problem-2) Creating a new PG or modifying an existing PG fails with: ERROR 1004

We now have a workaround to correct this condition, please open a support case so we can help apply the fix.  You will not be charged for the support incident.

  • The other problem we've noticed is with one protection group (which we cannot modify), synchronizations happen as scheduled but not recovery points or tape jobs. There are no errors flagged or failed jobs; they just do not occur. You can manually create a recovery point, but it will not happen as scheduled.

  • Hi,

You need CC to open a case, but no charge will be applied since the case will be flagged as being closed as code defect.
