How to recover EVM computations when the plan gets corrupted? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

Sometimes after doing a lot of changes in the project plan (several do-undo-redo baselining-overwriting etc) the plan gets corrupted and the Earned Value Management computations may not work as expected.

When that happens does anyone know any trick/workaround to bring the plan to work as usual?

    Thanks

  • Ricardo,

Normal file editing should not cause file corruption. Nonetheless, if your file does get corrupted, go to the MVP website at, http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm, and take a look at FAQ 43 - handling project file corruptions and/or bloat. Please note that method 2 no longer applies for Project versions 2007 and later. Also be aware that using all methods except method 1 will cause you to lose all custom formatting (i.e. views, table, calendars, etc.). You can recover those by first using the Organizer to copy those to a new blank file and then again using the Organizer to transfer them to your new cleaned up file. Be careful though, those custom items may be corrupt.

    Hope this helps.
