Pipe Delimited Import to Power Pivot

    General discussion

  • I am trying to import a pipe delimited (|) text file into the Power Pivot window.  In the preview screen, everything looks good and it appears that the data is being parsed out into the correct columns.  But then when I finish the import, much of the data simply disappears and does not get imported.  I can import this same file into a standard Excel spreadsheet with no problems and I can import this same file into Access with no problems.  I can certainly find another way of getting the data into Power Pivot; but it would be much more convenient if I could import the file as it currently sits.  Any ideas on how to rectify this?

  • Is this still an issue?

  • Yes, this is still an issue.  I have read other threads of people having the same problem.  But I have seen no solutions proposed.  The PowerPivot application offers the vertical bar as a delimiter option; but so far, I have not gotten it to work.  I have a work around, but it would be much more convenient if this feature worked.  It can't be that hard to fix.  The same file imports flawlessly to both Access and Excel.
