  • Hi Carl,

    Thanks for the reply

I have 8 DCs, including in remote locations. We have users who frequently access fileserver from corporate (HO) to Branch Office. Branch office users access the fileserver internally by name without any issues. But users in corporate are not able to access the fileserver which is in branch location by name but by IP they are able to access. They are  getting the below error.

\\Server is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have permissions.

Logon Failure:The target account name is incorrect.

I have made the DNS entry for the fileserver in DCs, but still facing the issue

  • Hi,

As I know, UNC path (\\server\.. ) is resolved by netbios.

Please check the clients' option below.

'network connections/local area network - right click for properties, choose internet protocol/properties/advanced/wins and under Netbios setting checked 'enable netbios over tcp/ip'.

    Best Regards,
    Frank
