Can MAP 7.0 running in vista ultimate can detect windows xp home edition PC? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit 7.0 in a vista ultimate PC.Can this MAP detect windows xp home edition? MAP uses wmi to inventory other machines. In some of Microsoft site it is given like "You cannot connect to a computer that is running Windows XP Home Edition."(in link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa389284(v=vs.85).aspx#failure_to_connect)

    So is it possible?

Answers

  • No, home editions of Windows do not have WMI enabled so MAP cannot inventory them.
