sysvol shares disappeares on domain controller

    Question

  • hello everyone

I have three domain controller on the same site, I'm facing two problems:

    1. I can't join any new computer to the domain I receive error network path was not found

    2. I noticed that the sysvol shares and netlogon are not shared on two servers only one server which is the first DC in the domain and if I share those folders after a while they become not shared

I ran repadmin /syncall and I receive the command completed suscessfully

  • this error is from the client computer when I attempt to join it to the domain

DNS was successfully queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain "mydomain.local":

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.mydomain.local

The following domain controllers were identified by the query:
    vdc2.mydomain.local
    server2.mydomain.local
    dc1.mydomain.local

However no domain controllers could be contacted.

Common causes of this error include:

    - Host (A) or (AAAA) records that map the names of the domain controllers to their IP addresses are missing or contain incorrect addresses.

    - Domain controllers registered in DNS are not connected to the network or are not running.

  • Hi

First run "ipconfig /all" on problematic DC's.ip address needs to be point to itself on dns. Also check the port accessibility between dc's.You can check with PortQryUI; https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24009

And you should check the article to "Troubleshooting missing SYSVOL and NETLOGON shares on Windows domain controllers"

  • Hi,
Have you run dcdiag to check the problematic DCs for more information? And did you find any event logs related to the problem?
Regarding the sysvol and netlogon not shared, you could follow:

  • I found this errors in event viewer

The DFS Replication service stopped replication on the folder with the following local path: C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain. This server has been disconnected from other partners for 310 days, which is longer than the time allowed by the MaxOfflineTimeInDays parameter (60). DFS Replication considers the data in this folder to be stale, and this server will not replicate the folder until this error is corrected.

To resume replication of this folder, use the DFS Management snap-in to remove this server from the replication group, and then add it back to the group. This causes the server to perform an initial synchronization task, which replaces the stale data with fresh data from other members of the replication group.

    Additional Information:
Error: 9061 (The replicated folder has been offline for too long.)
    Replicated Folder Name: SYSVOL Share
    Replicated Folder ID: 5FBCB33D-D5DF-4849-AD6B-7BD5D87422A1
Replication Group Name: Domain System Volume
    Replication Group ID: 96176B51-42E3-499A-8DA8-F30048482968
    Member ID: 5C991DD9-683B-4D9D-9813-8EB6EBCAF7E1

these servers haven't communicated with each other or started 10 months ago, the problem is that I can't remove any member from dfs because it's sysvol created automatically by active directory

    any idea will be appreciated

  • This server has been disconnected from other partners for 310 days, >>> Means DC also have tombstone lifetime issue at least.Just you should forcefully remove this dc from domain. Then will do a metadata cleanup. Then do a clean installation of OS and add domain again as addtional domain controller again. But you should also fix the connectivity problems between DC's.

    Metadata cleanup ; https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc816907(v=ws.10).aspx?f=255&mspperror=-2147217396
