New Subsite in foreign language RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I want to create a subsite in a foreign language. All the language packs are installed and I can create a French Site perfectly wherever I want, the problem is the administration part (Site settings etc.) are all in French. Is there a way to get this back to English? I really don't need an English version of this site so if this is possible that would be great, if not I guess I could set up a variation and use variation labels. Issue with that is that since this is a subsite what would I put for Variation Home when I create the variation?

  • That's odd.

I always thought that when you have for instance an English SP installation but then use a French Language Pack the administration is still in English.

Can you define which things are in French ? Are error messages when you are in the French site coming in French too ?

(All this assumes your LP is French and your original SP language is English)

FAQ sites: (SP 2010); (v3) and (WSS 2.0)
Complete Book Lists (incl. foreign language) on each site.

  • I haven't rec'd any error messages but everything else is in French. Site Actions, Site settings etc. Everything I would need to administer the subsite is in French. My main language is English and all of the other sites are in English and are fine, every site can be admin in English but this French site. All i did was create new site and picked French as the language, didn't think it would change the administration of the subsite.
