MSPS 2007: How to incorporate reporting RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am a beginner on MSPS 2007 and trying to understand how reporting can be incorporated.

What I wish to do is create reports and make them available on Project Web Access.

What I need to understand are:

    - What will be the components that need to be installed

    - What is the ideal deployment scenario

    - What reporting components are required

    - What development environment is needed

    Can someone help me?

  • HI there--

Please see the section "Overview of Reporting Capabilities in Project Server 2007" in below article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ee862408(v=office.12).aspx

    - What will be the components that need to be installed
-- You can use SQL server reporting services with SharePoint integration mode.
-- You may also use the Webparts  using .
NET & deploy to the project server.

    - What is the ideal deployment scenario
-- You can install the SQL server reporting service on SQL server or any other server to host the SSRS.

     What reporting components are required
    --
SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint 2007 Products and Technologies
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg426282.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197479.aspx#section6
    - What development environment is needed
-- For SQL server reporting services, Business Intelligence Development studio (BIDS) is required. For Webparts using .NET, You will need to have Visual Studio 2008.

    Does that helps?
