DPM Upgrade Questions RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are wondering what other people are doing who are in similar situations such as ours. We had a chunk of money to spend at the end of the year. We decided it would be a good idea to go and buy all the latest versions of the various servers we have. SQL Server, Windows Server, Exchange, etc. We got the latest release and the hardware to go with it. Life is good, right?

Then we get to DPM. We were one of the early adopters of DPM and suffered through all the growing pains that go along with that. In my view, DPM was a great tool for a great price. As we are purchasing all our new equipment we figure out to our horror that DPM has been rolled into the System Center Suite and what used to be a very fair price is now over $22K. And we don't have the extra money to spend. In our view, we don't really want or need all those other products. We just want to backup our data and go on with other things.  Unfortunately it does not appear that we can make DPM 2010 backup some of the new products like Exchange 2013, so we feel stuck.

I am wondering if there are others in this position and what you did about it?

    Thanks!
