IIS7 and Vista Ultimate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Vista Ultimate (64 bit) and IIS7 (default) is installed but I need to add IIS Metabase and IIS6 Management Compatibility.  I have tried all the following methods without success:

    1.  Using the dialogue box with the checkboxes for different windows services accessed through the control panel.

    2. Typing “Runas /user:administrator Start/w pkgmgr /iu:IIS-Metabase” in the start box.

    3. Opening the command promt window “as administrator” and at the “C:\Windows\System32>” prompt I typed “start /w pkgmgr.exe /iu:IIS-Metabase”.  After a while the prompt returned and I entered “echo %errorlevel%” and 0 was returned.  I then restarted. When I looked in the dialogue box for windows services it wasn’t ticked and I still cannot create a “local IIS” website in Visual Studio 2005, which is the purpose of wanting these options.

According to the IIS7 site this option should be available on Vista Ultimate.

    Anybody got any other ideas?
