Delete emails from inbox in Exchange 2010 and not subfolders RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I'm trying to figure out a way to delete emails from the inbox that are older than 45 days. I do not want any of the emails in the sub folders to be deleted. Is there a powershell script that will accomplish this? I'm running exchange 2010 w/sp1

    Thank you

  • MRM version 1.0 might allow you to do this. Come across this discussion when looking at another "subfolder" question:

It looks like MRM 2.0 is less granular, less subtile, in this respect.

  • Hi wthfnsanford,

If you want to use Retention Policy to delete the mails in Inbox, you can create a RPT(Inbox Type) to delete the mails in Inbox, and you should create a disabled Personal Tag applied to subfolders. However, end users may need to appliy Personal Tag via Outlook 2010 manully.
