Autocomplete data from Office for MAC 2011 to 365 for MAC RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

We are due to migrate our MAC users from Exchange Server 2010 to Exchange Online (365) using a cutover migration and have a query about how to handle the "autocomplete" data from the client side.

They use "Office 2011 for MAC", and will upgrade to Office 2016 (365) for MAC. How can we migrate the Autocomplete data to the new client?

  • Hi,

Outlook for Mac builds a local database of recently used addresses from email messages that are stored in the user's identity. This database is named "Recent Addresses" and is located in the following directory, depending on the version of Outlook for Mac:

    Outlook 2016 for Mac:
    \Users\<username>\Library\Group Containers\UBF8T346G9.Office\Outlook\Outlook 15 Profiles\<Profiles name>\Data\Recent Addresses

    Outlook for Mac 2011:
    \Users\<username>\Documents\Microsoft User Data\Office 2011 Identities\<Identity Name>\Data Records\Recent Addresses\

You may consider to move the Recent Addresses database from the Outlook 2011 directory to the corresponding Outlook 2016 directory to see the result.

  • Hi,

I'm not sure how wizz made out but I tried this and it didn't work. I even tried naming it the same as the default file from 2016. It must be in a different format. Is there a tool that can upgrade an Outlook 2011 for Mac Recent Addresses database to 2016?

    Thanks,

    Jeff
