Windows 7 pro Bitlocker encryption

    Question

  • Hello,

    Can someone advise the steps to get Bitlocker installed and working on a windows 7 pro laptop. I just got off the phone with a microsoft support agent who said it is possible with computers on a domain. She couldn't give me any more info and directed me to technet.

    Please share any info you may have

  • Bitlocker is only available in Ultimate or enterprise in win 7

    I’m afraid you cannot get BitLocker installed and working on a Windows 7 pro laptop. BitLocker Drive Encryption is a data protection feature available in Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 7 Ultimate, and in all editions of Windows Server 2008 R2.

    Thank you for your answer. I thought that was the correct, I just needed to confirm, as I spoke with microsoft support and they said it could be done, but they couldn't tell me how to do it. 

    We will look at using a 3rd party tool.
