Text box created in Word 2003 disappears in .pdf after converting to .docx RRS feed

  • I have an issue with Text boxes not appearing in .pdf files. 

    We have a large number of files created in Word 2003 that have a text box as a cover page; our company recently upgraded to Word 2010, and after saving the document in .docx, the text within the box disappears when printing as a .pdf or saving as a .pdf. 

    If the file is saved as a .doc, it prints to .pdf properly.

    When I create a new .docx file, and insert a text box, and paste the contents from the 2003 document's text box, it wraps the text and will print.  When I resize the text box (drag a corner), the text then disappears when printed / saved to a .pdf

    Is there a method to convert Word 2003 .doc documents to Word 2010 .docx and retain the text box function without having to recreate each file?

    Have you install Office 2010 SP1, if not you can visit below link:

    You can try to open .doc document in Compatibility Mode, and then save/print to .pdf as a work around.
