Declining an update that's been downloaded but not installed RRS feed

    So we approved all our patches last week and have Test machines that install them and Production machines that download it right away but wait a couple weeks to do the install.  We're now seeing reports online of the .Net 4.6.1 update messing with a bunch of stuff so we decided to decline it for our Production machines.

    So, since the Production machines already downloaded the patch, if I now go onto our WSUS server and decline it, will they see that and just delete it or not install it or since they already have it downloaded, will they install it anyway?

    No, client machines will not delete the updates locally by declining them from WSUS server side. Since declining updates on WSUS server only make new clients not see the update and can't download them any more, for clients have already downloaded the updates, we need to delete them locally on client side.

    If the update has been downloaded but hasn't been installed, you may ask your WSUS clients to delete it in folder: C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. And decline it on WSUS server.

    Before you delete the update, stop windows update service and start again after deletion.
