  • Question

  • Hello,

I am a group of users which are part of the Local Users and Group on the Collection Server: VOTFCSCS1:

     > MOM Users group

     > Distributed COM Users

as stated in the link below:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb418908.aspx

But when they try to connect to the Management Server VOTFCSMS1 they got an error: Cannot connect to the localhost or to the server

They are able to RDP to all the six servers of the FCS Architecture:

    - Collection Database Server: BOPFCSDB1

    - Reporting Database Server: BOPFCSRS1

    - Reporting Service Server: VOTFCSRS1

    - Collection Server: VOTFCSCS1

    - Management Server: VOTFCSMS1

    - Deployment Server: VOTFCSDS1 / WSUS Server

They have access to all links to reports from the dashboard.

    What did I miss?

    Thanks,
    Dom

  • Hello,

How do I post the screenshot?

    The message is:
    Operator Console Error

    Error connecting to server: localhost

The user is connected to the Management Server. It might need also more access to the Management Server through the Distributed COM Users group

Now I am progressing a bit the first time the user needs to enter the Management Server VOTFCSMS1.... in progress...

    then the new error is:

    Operator Console Error

    Error connecting to server: VOTFCSMS1

I just noticed that even the prompt is asking for the Management Server, it is really the Collection Server which is needed !!!!

So when inputting VOTFCSCS1 the console is displayed...

    Thanks,
    Dom

Would you please capture a screenshot when the error message shows up?

    How to capture a Screenshot:

    1. Please press the Print Screen key (Putsch) on your keyboard.

    2. Click Start, click Run, type MSPAINT, and click OK.

    3. In Paint, click Paste under the Edit Menu, click Save under the File menu, type a file name for the screenshot, choose JPEG as "Save as type", click "Desktop" on the left pane, and click Save.

    4. Please find the screenshot on the Desktop
