Combining e-mail accounts and OST and PST RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I recently got a new computer and had to set up my e-mail again but this time it has shown all my e-mails as different accounts and views with their own calendars etc.

I want to convert these to a single view and the account I send from is an option when I send.  Like it used to be but I cannot seem to do this and one of the reasons is it has set all my accounts with OST files not PST files.

    Can someone help please?

  • Hi Simon,

Which version of Microsoft Outlook do you use on your new computer?

How did you configure your email account on your previous computer and new computer? Via POP3, IMAP or Exchange? Generally, POP3 by default uses PST file as default data file type while IMAP and Exchange use OST by default. It looks like your account was previously set up as POP3 on your old computer but as IMAP on your new computer. In this case, you may consider the following two methods to achieve what you want:

Option 1. Keep the IMAP account configured, import the PST file to the IMAP account within Outlook. See the following article for details:

Option 2. Remove the IMAP account, re-configure your account as POP3 in Outlook. When configuring, choose 'Use an existing data file', and select your existing PST file.

    Hope it helps.
