I apologize ahead of time if this is the wrong group to ask this question, but I have not had any luck with my own searching…
Have any of you run into an issue uninstalling Windows Defender from a Windows 10 and/or Server 2016 box?
The CBS.LOG file shows these two errors:
2020-10-23 07:28:38, Info CBS Failed to pin deployment while resolving Update: Package_6819_for_KB4467684~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.9.4467684-14922_neutral
from file: (null) [HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING]
2020-10-23 07:28:38, Info CBS Failed to bulk stage deployment manifest and pin deployment for package:Package_7383_for_KB4561616~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.7 [HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING]
I do see that KB4467684 is no longer available in the Microsoft Update Catalog, but it was superseded by KB4465659, which IS available (and which the customer DOES have installed). I also see that KB4132216 is a prerequisite for KB4465659, and my customer
also has that installed.
My question to the group is: would you recommend uninstalling KB4465659, then uninstalling Windows Defender, then reinstalling 4465659? This is one of the customer’s production servers,
so we’re trying to minimize the number of reboots/downtime, if possible. Thank you.
