Client does not trigger update installation. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have similar situation as mentioned on following url I need some help from experts

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/c66f2147-2c1e-4a0e-8045-3cc8f421448b/client-does-not-trigger-update-installation?forum=winserverwsus

Updates are downloading fine but will not get installed by itself you have to hit update now.

As messge appears "We'll automatically install updates when you aren't using your device, or you can install them now if you want." but it never happens. Even I leave computer unattended for 24 hours.

  • Hi,

According to your description, please start from the following aspects:

    1. Checking the group policy applied to this part of the client is the first step. If you can provide a group policy applied to this part of the client, it will help the analysis of the problem.
Need to pay attention, if the "No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations" policy is enabled, specifies that to complete a scheduled installation, automatic Updates will wait for the computer to be restarted by any user who is signed in, instead of causing the computer to restart automatically.

    2. Does the client computer have active hours enabled?
You can consider modifying the restart scheme by adjusting the two policies "Always automatically restart at scheduled time" and "Specify active hours range for auto-restarts policy".

    3. In addition to the reasons for Group Policy, newer monthly rollup updates will fix some known system issues, please check if these clients have already installed these updates.

Reply back with the results would be happy to help.

    Regards,
    Yic

  • Configure below policies correctly,

Check these policies applied or not correctly.

Then you should approve updates from the WSUS server to download updates to WSUS server and then client PCs.

Did you approve updates from WSUS server?

If you have any issue, followup this,

    1. enable Auto download and scheduled to install

    2. Decrease detection frequency,

    3. Enable "Allow Immediate Installation"
