  • Hi,

If you can provide more information on the issue, we can know more about your situation.

Did the error show up when you check for updates?

What is the specific error message or code it prompted? It is appreciated that you can provide a screen cut, upload it to the network drive and share the link here.

You can follow these steps to help narrow down the problem:

    STEP1: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2730071/-windows-update-cannot-check-for-updates-error-message-when-you-try-to

STEP2: Run sfc /scannow in Command Prompt as administrator

STEP3: Run the troubleshooter which is located at Control Panel>All Control Panel Item>Troubleshooting>Fix problems with Windows Update

StEP4:Use System Update readiness Tool to troubleshoot the issue.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/947821/fix-windows-update-errors-by-using-the-dism-or-system-update-readiness

STEP5:Perform a clean boot and manually download the KB on Microsoft Update Catalog

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

    STEP6:Reset the Windows Update component : https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/help/971058/how-do-i-reset-windows-update-components

If the above suggestions don’t help, please help us collect the cbs.log (%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) , windowsupdate.log (%windir%\windowsupdate.log) , CheckSUR.log (%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log), post them on the network drive and share the link here, which can help us do more research.
