OS crash during installation

    Question

  • Hi,

I have created a customized Win10 IoT 2016 image and when deployed, I get the crash during installation and when checked the setuperr.log (Panther\UnattendGC), I see the following error messages.

When the OS is reinstalled, the installation succeeds.

I would like to understand why the error has occurred and what could be the solution to avoid these errors?

    Appreciate your help!

  • Hi,

As I see, this error occurred during online installation.

Please know that in this phase, computer is started in Windows for the first time. Setup first performs a set of specialization actions that make the installation of Windows unique.  Drivers for detected hardware are installed, and collected migration data is now reapplied to the system.

First, I would like to know how you create driver stack for your deployment.

Mostly, this issue could be caused by driver installation. setupapi.*.log will be created to record these things, please check the log and see if there is any error during driver installation.

    \Windows\inf\setupapi.*.log
