People Editor causing an error in Interner Explorer 8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Our client has an intranet portal that is running on MOSS 2007.

Recently they started reporting problems when using the people editor in NewForm.aspx. What happens is that when they enter part of a name the editor will of course report that no match is found. They then click the name, select the user they want and continue to edit the form. Upon selecting Ok they get a "object required" javascript error.

I think I've traced it to core.js and the way IE8 calls a specific method, versus how IE7 did it. Indeed, putting the browser in IE7 compatibility mode fixes the problem. SP2 is said to add IE8 compatibility to MOSS 2007 but it hasn't in this case or this might be one of the issues that wasn't fixed.

As far as I know I'm left with two options; either add a metatag to every masterpage that forces the site to run i "IE7-mode" or tell the client to change the mode themselves in their browsers.

    /Johan
