Unable to boot up in Safe Mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • Yesterday, my computer is infected by Sality and now I can't boot up in Safe Mode.

    Symtoms: F8 --> Safe mode --> BSOD.

    As far as I know, Sality removed some reg keys (HKCU\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot and HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot) And I think that is why my PC can't boot up in Safe Mode.

    So what I need to do now? I've kicked it out of my PC using Kaspersky's SalityKiller.

  • Create yourself an ERD disk and and boot from this, from here you should be able to get rid of the virus and fix your regsitary issue. I would try to use ERD 2007 as not sure if later version are compatible with XP

  • No I've cleaned Sality the virus. I can boot up in normal mode, and I can't boot up in safe mode. Furthermore, my pc does not have CD drive.
