SharePoint 2016 installation

    Question

  • Hi,

If I am installing SharePoint 2016 using two servers (1 db and 1 sharepoint) what do I choose in the screenshot below? I am guessing it would be "front end"?

    thanks,

  • If you only have one SharePoint server you can do either Single-Server Farm or Custom.  Using Custom will make it easier to add additional servers in the future.  So that's what I would recommend.  Front-end is a specific role that requires several other servers fulfilling other roles to make a complete farm.
