MIM Sync 2016 - "The server encryption keys could not be created" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

during a new Installation of the MIM Sync on a Server 2016 I ran into following error:

"The server encryption keys could not be created." Event 6202

I've never had this issue before. The user installing has Domain Admin as well as Local Admin permissions and is sysadmin on the SQL server.

The installation itself is successful but the service won't start, because of this error.

At the moment I'm running out of ideas what the issue could be.

Could you please help me with this.

    Cheers

    Thomas

  • Is SQL local or another server? Check Firewall rules, as described in the guide. Also make sure the port 1433 is open in SQL Server.

  • Ok Guys.

I am really not sure what is going on with this product... What a pain in the butt it is to install. So the only way I can get this to run is by changing the service to run as a domain admin. Which is strange as in the Lab, I had the MIMSync account as a domain admin anyway.

Well, this is a lab, so whilst not ideal, it is the only way I can get the service to start. I'll need to have a look and see what else it breaks by using domain admin creds
