Printer Context Menu RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've developed an application that makes use of the context menu in the printers folder (when a user right clicks on a specific printer some new commands are added in the context menu).

    It works well on Vista and other Windows versions, but on Windows 7, build 7100 the new menu options do not appear in the context menu.

    In order to register the dll I've developed into the system I used a rgs file, which adds entries in the registry for the following:
    1) in HKCR my extension dll class information;
    2) in HKCR, CLSID the path to the module (dll) and it's threading model;
    3) in HKCR, Printers, Shellex, ContextMenuHandlers the class.

    Is there something else I should add to the registry to make the options appear?

    Thanks for any tip that can help me to solve this problem.

  • FYI, the answer to Citrone's question can be found in http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/DeviceExperience/DevPrintFolder-Ext.mspx.  Short form, there's an additional registry key entry required for it to work on Windows 7.
