VMWARE View Windows 7 32bit BSOD when opening PDFs RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am experiencing an issue with my VMWare View deployment (version 5.1) where when a user opens a PDF file using Adobe Reader 10.1.3 the computer will crash. I get the following error: "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000050 (0x87a11000, 0x00000000, 0x82832f7a, 0x00000000) A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP"

I have also contacted vmware support but they say it is a windows issue. I have the memory.dmp file and the minidump file but am unsure how to attach it to this forum.

The only other thing I can mention is that this issue is completely random. Some days we have no reports of it happening and other days I get 2 or 3 tickets opened. I have tried reinstalling and using other PDF readers but Adobe is required for our critical applications.

  • Hi,

Do you mean the virtual machine crashed when opening PDFs?

    Bug Check 0x50: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_ARE
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff559023(v=vs.85).aspx

It can be caused by the installation of a faulty system service or antivirus confliction. I suggest you reinstall the PDF reader, perform clean boot and disable security software for a test.

You can upload the Minidump to SkyDrive. Meanwhile, please check if there is any related log in Event Viewer.

  • Yes. The virtual machines crash. I have tried using two different anti-virus programs. Bitdefender and Vipre. I have also tried reinstalling.

Here is the skydrive link to the dump. The memory.dmp file is taking a long time to upload. I will post that link once it is done.

  • Good insight but the same files can be opened on other computers and even on the same computer once it restarts.
