Grooming for ever RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I am trying to groom my database using the script

    Declare @tempdays int
    Declare @daysdiff int
    Declare @dayskeep int

    set @daysdiff = 5
    set @dayskeep = 90

    Groom_Again:

    select @tempdays = datediff(dd, min(timestored), getdate()) from sdkeventview
    set @tempdays = @tempdays - 1

    set @tempdays = @tempdays - @daysdiff
    select @tempdays
    IF (@tempdays < @dayskeep)
    BEGIN
    select 'Finished Grooming'
    return
    END

    select 'start grooming in a new loop'
    select @tempdays

    IF (@tempdays > @dayskeep)
    BEGIN
    Exec p_updategroomdays 'SC_AlertFact_Table', @tempdays
    Exec p_updategroomdays 'SC_AlertHistoryFact_Table', @tempdays
    Exec p_updategroomdays 'SC_AlertToEventFact_Table', @tempdays
    Exec p_updategroomdays 'SC_EventFact_Table', @tempdays
    Exec p_updategroomdays 'SC_EventParameterFact_Table', @tempdays
    Exec p_updategroomdays 'SC_SampledNumericDataFact_Table', @tempdays
    END

    exec dbo.p_GroomDatawarehouseTables
    select getdate()
    DBCC opentran
    goto Groom_Again

    from the http://blogs.technet.com/b/fcsnerds/archive/2008/09/25/fcs-with-mom-2005-database-guidance.aspx but after 7 hours it is still running no message, no error in the event log...

    7000 Clients

    Already running for 7 hours +

    Databases:

    OnePoint 18 Gb (free 14%) - Log 5 Gb (free 97%)

    SystemCenterReporting 950 Gb (free 0%) - Log 200 Gb (free 97%)

    Any idea why is it so long ??? Is it doing something? the DB remains full ...

    Thanks,

    Dom
