  • Question

  • Windows Defender and Malwarebytes both co-existed happily on my new PC until I tried to update Adobe Reader. Now Windows Defender won't turn on live protection as "there is another AV doing this." Can I do something to get them both working together again? Thanks

  • If you are using Malwarebytes real-time protection , then you have to uninstall it to be able to use Windows Defender. However, if you are using scanner of Malwarebytes only (not real-time protection), then Windows Defender should work, you might need to uninstall and reinstall Malwarebytes.

  • Hi,

Generally, we don't recommend using 2 antivirus application on one PC, it sometimes cause the performance issue of Windows.

If you really would like to use both of them, make sure to configure one for Real time protection.

Then, configure the exclusion folders for Defender in Malwarebytes, and exclusion folder for Malwarebytes in Defender.

    That could work for your.
