Upgrade to Lync 2013 or Skype for business RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently using Lync 2010 for instant messaging and Shared desktop. Employees are dependent on Lync 2010. Do we upgrade to Lync 2013 or switch over to Skype for business?? Lync is predominately used for instant messaging at our company. What are the advantages of staying with Lync or switching over to Skype ? It looks like Skype's strength is in video conferencing. Does Skype also do shared desktop? Can a Lync client be downloaded to Blackberries, androids and Apple phone?

  • Hi,

This will assist you in regards to upgrade from Lync 2010 to SFB.

SFB does everything that Lync 2010 can do but mostly the back-end infrastructure has improved suggest as archiving is part of the front-end etc. see below link

As for SFB on the Blackberries, you will need to upgrade BES server to version 12.3.

    Hope this help.
