    I want to build some wiki or webpages as "how to ... " documents 

    I want to be able to open them from other sites just including the links to them 

    The idea is to manage the how to in a central  repository and every new site in the organization to have the links to the HOW TO wikis without open the central repository site

    Hi

    You can develop a simple webpart with how to links listed in it.

    Then you can save a new site template with the webpart added into the home page.
