  • I am not aware of Microsoft publishing any type of documentation with any recommendations about rebooting.

If you search the internet you will find a multitude of recommendations.  Some say everyday, some say every three days, some say you should never have to reboot it, etc.

Some people claim the computer begins to run slow after a few days and others claim they can't remember the last time they reboot and have not experienced any problems.

There was even a report several years ago that a computer had not been turned off or rebooted in over 5 years.  Don't know if there is any truth to the story.

Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. ”

  • Depends on the hardware you use. Software can run for long, but Hw can give issues, cooling, utilization, power etc etc.

Also, no documentation exists for this.

Though rebooting is not going to improve cooling, I would have said it is software that some times requires a reboot more than hardware, hardware will just work as long as the commands from the software are there to keep it running.
