UNIX Custom monitors are run one at a time ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have written several monitors for UNIX and I have noticed that each monitor is executed sequential after each other,

which means if one of the monitors hangs or takes a very long time to run it will delay all the other monitors. Is there any way around this ?

  • You are correct that Unix monitoring is done from a managment server.  Commands are pushed to the Unix host over a SSH connection via OpenPegasus.  You may want to ask these questoins in the cross platform forum as well - there is a separate forum for cross platform because it is a separate team within System Center

  • We have two different MP executing commands on unix to check items,   it looks like all UNIX commands are run one at a time and are queued up one after the other (unless they time out in the q). This also includes Discovery & Tasks which run a UNIX command queue up behind the other unix commands.

!!!  Can any one say this is not the case.  ??????

We also believe the Unix Agent is semi-agentless,  ie the agent is dumb and the most of the smarts happen on the management server?????
