Black Screen when Presenting desktop RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having issues with users getting a black screen when they present their desktop using S4B. When the primary monitor is displayed, everything works fine, but when the secondary monitor is displayed there is only a black screen and the cursor leaves trails behind it. This is happening for multiple users at the company and the hardware connecting the monitors is identical so I am fairly certain that this is an issue with S4B and not a hardwear issue. I have tried deleting the ost files within Lync and restarting the computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • This is a known issue and there's a fix released by Microsoft to overcome this. Deploy below fix on a workstation and see if it fix your issue.

  • Hi CalebTrantow,

    Did you solve the issue with help of Thamara.Wijesinghe provided above?

    If the issue persists, you can try the follow steps:

    You could try to clear the client cache by deleting Lync user profiles and Registry keys.

    User profile:

    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\sip_UserName@Domain.com

    Registry Key:

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\UserName@Domain.com

    You could also try to uninstall display card drivers and then install Windows Default drivers instead to test the issue.

    Please also try to visit below registry path and delete mentioned key.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\

    {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

  • Could you also make sure  that you are with IE 11 , is it possible /Or you have already tried changing the resolution of the screens. Can you also check if you see the issue happening with Skype for business Basic Client.

  • I have IE 11, and tried changing the resolution of the screen. Unfortunately, since we are a business and installing Skype for Business Basic Client involves uninstalling Office that is already on the computer, we were unable to do this.  I should not that when presenting, the primary monitor is visible and working but the secondary monitor is just a black or sometimes frozen screen where cursor trails are left.  We also tried disabling the graphics drivers but all this did was make it so we could not have duel monitors. Please let me know if there are any other suggestions on what to do. This is affecting multiple users at our company. Thank you!
