  • What happened to setting the color of the Application Background Colour (not the desktop background) in Windows 7?? 
    The color of the main MDI window ??

    How did you change this setting in previous versions of Windows? (Windows Vista and Windows XP).

  • Just used the Personalise window then Advanced Settings

  • On the bottom of Personalize window, select the Window Color item.

    There are less settings available, but Application Background is still one of them.

  • If you are using the Windows 7 Basic theme, just click on "Window Color" at the bottom of the Personalization window.

    If you are using the Aero theme, click "Window Color", and then click "Advanced appearance settings..." and you will be able to change the "Application background" color in that dialog.
