  • Question

  • Hi All,

Facing issue in WSUS and SCCM synchronization.

WSUS could able to sync patches and updates from Microsoft but the SCCM could not able to Sync those updates/patches from WSUS. Failing with the below error.

Note: 1. I have proxy configured.
    2. WSUS and SCCM is installed on same server.

    wsyncmgr.log

Sync failed: UssCommunicationError: WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 191.234.72.183:443~~at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream(TransportContext& context). Source: Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.SoftwareUpdatesManagement.WsusSyncAction.WSyncAction.SyncWSUS

Very new to this SCCM and WSUS.

    Detailed help will be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Prateek

  • Did you apply Windows Updates on the ConfigMgr / WSUS Server recently?

If yes, check out the following blog post https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/wsus/2016/05/05/the-long-term-fix-for-kb3148812-issues/

  • Seems as if the server cannot contact 191.234.72.183. This is something unique to your network and you have to find out what's wrong (proxy, firewall, routing, whatever)

  • Hi,

Have you checked that if the ports configured on your SUP match with the ports configured on the WSUS web site? In your case port 443 should be configured as the https port number in the IIS of your remote WSUS server.

    Best regards,

    Jimmy

  • Hello,

check the configured port are correct or not, for server 2012, default port would be 8530, change that and try again, and also in log you are saying server cannot contact 191.234.72.183, check the connectivity between those, are you able to ping the servers are not? but most probably ports are not configured correctly

  • How to Check the port configured for SUP ?
And in IIS, 443 is only configured for https.

  • Administration workspace -> Site Configuration. Right click on Servers and Site System Roles and choose Software update point. Choose the SUP from the list of site systems on the right, then right-click on Software update point in the bottom pane and choose Properties. The General Page of the resulting Software update point Properties dialog has the ports.

  • Thanks Jason.

But SUP has been configured with http port 80 and https 443 only.
Do i need to change http port to 8530 ? Its not allowing me to change!

  • It needs to match whatever you WSUS instance is configured for. By default in Server 2012 and 2012 R2, the defaults are 8530 and 8531.
