Project Server 2010: Unable to edit project in PWA/Project Professional 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have encountered a strange prblem with one of my projects.

    1. When I open the project in Project Professional, the project schedule gets loaded fine. However none of the  ECFs get loaded into the local cache and hence all ECFs are blank. I emptied the local cache and tried to open the project for editing but the problem still persists.
    2. When I try to open the project schedule in PWA for editing, I get a view failure in all the Task views.
    3. When I try to edit the PDP associated with the project, I encounter the following error

"An error has occurred when saving your project to the server. Please contact your administrator for assistance"

Any pointers to resolve this problem are appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hi MartherP,

it could be becaues of few corrupt assignments in that project files, so kindly run below query to find corrupt assignments in your project.

     1. To find the corrupt assignment(s) use the following SQL query:

    USE [ProjectServer_Published]
    SELECT MSP_PROJECTS.PROJ_NAME,
    MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED.TASK_NAME,
    MSP_RESOURCES.RES_NAME,
    MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED.ASSN_UID,
    MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED.PROJ_UID,
    MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED.TASK_UID,
    MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED.RES_UID
    FROM MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED INNER JOIN
    MSP_PROJECTS ON MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED.PROJ_UID =
    MSP_PROJECTS.PROJ_UID INNER JOIN
    MSP_RESOURCES ON MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED.RES_UID =
    MSP_RESOURCES.RES_UID
    WHERE (NOT EXISTS
    (SELECT TASK_UID
    FROM MSP_TASKS_SAVED
    WHERE (TASK_UID = MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED.TASK_UID)))

    2. After having located the corrupt assignment(s) insert the column
'Publish' and set the value to 'No' for each assignment in MS Project Prof.
    3. Next publish the project via Project Pro.
    4. Then find the source of corruption of those task fix it and publish the
Project plan by setting 'Publish' yes for those tasks.

And is your server is patched witht he latest CU? because i can see one of the error was addressed in JUN CU of Project Server 2010, let us know and we will try to help you.
