Deploying Windows 7 Pro 64bit and B150 Chipset - USB Drive not found RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have heard but not sure if true or not but I am trying to run the opk or predeploy a Windows 7 Pro 64bit image created with the opk software. Image is on CD and settings on a USB flash drive.  It runs fine and boots from CD but will not assign a drive to the USB hence cannot apply the self extracting settings.

    Motherboard:  Asus B150M-K

    CPU: Intel G4400

    Memory :  Kingston 8GB DDR4

    Hard Drive: Seagate 1TB

Has work fine with other setups but with a different chipset like the H81.

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Windows Forms General Discuss client application development using Windows Forms controls and features.

Since your issue is more related to win7 setup, I will move your thread to that forum for better support.

    Thanks for your under standing.

  • Hi MaxCom_Computers,

This could mean that the answer file is in the USB flash drive

Please make sure the name the file as Autounattend.xml in the root of the USB drive

Refer to this guide to make the answer file and proper configure for pre-deploy image

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd349348(v=ws.10).aspx

Also we could try open command prompt and type in

    Diskpart

    Automount enable

Hope it will be helpful to you

  • Intel 100 series chipset boards have newer USB3 and 3.1 ports that are not natively supported by Windows 7. You will need to add the USB drivers (xhc and hub) drivers to your Windows 7 Setup dvd's Boot.wim, index 2.

  • It is not the file name.  I am not even able to see the USB flash drive after it boots to the Windows PE prompt.

I usually connect to the USB 2.0 ports but that might still be an issue.  The only way I can get around this is to burn the USB flash drive data to an optical disc then connect a second optical drive to run the autounattend.xml.

I will need to rebuild the image file to include the drivers for Windows 7.  But that will happen when things slow down a little here.

  • Hi MaxCom_Computers,

Thank you for your reply. I suggest that we could rebuild the image and make the answer file and proper configure for pre-deploy image.
