SCCM Client 2007 R2 Discover Option Grayed Out RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have systems with Windows 7 & Windows XP with SCCM client (2007 R2). On some systems configure settings & Discover button is grayed out (logged in with Domain Admin credential). I suspect that same is happening due to parameter DISABLESITEOPT=TRUE used during installation. Now I want to enable Discover option, this will help for troubleshooting some issues. How to do this without reinstalling or repairing SCCM clients?

  • Change the value of "CP Site Assignment Options"to 'false' in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\Mobile Client\Configuration

  • Hi,

The discover button can be “disabled” during the install of the client when DISABLESITEOPT is used (client.msi):

    DISABLESITEOPT

By default, end-users with administrative rights on the client computer can change the assigned site for the Mobile Client using the Systems Management Control Panel icon.

If you do not want them to have that ability, set this option to "TRUE". It configures the registry key HKLM\SOFWARE\Microsoft\SMS\Mobile Client\Configuration\CP Site Assignment Options = “Disabled”

Normally this registry value is blank unless command line options to modify the default settings have been specified.

    Regards,

  • Thanks Mr.Torsten for your help. I also found that Discover option is highlighted even after settings values as Enabled,True and False. Originally value of the same is Disabled. Is there any difference if we set value as Enabled,True instead of False as suggested by you.
