Applying Exchange Server 2007 SP1 update rollup 5 RRS feed

  • Question

  • To All,

I've got my own desktop with Windows XP which i install Exchange Management Console 32 bit only. but then when i go to Windows Updates sites there's an option to update the Exchange Server 2007 SP1 to update Rollup 5.

Will it also update the main exchange server on my x64 Windows Server system ?

is this update safe to apply from my desktop to update my console only ? I'm just wondering if there's any real issue in deploying this update to the real production server. Because I've had very2 bad experience in updating MS Exchange Server 2007 (from failed Autodiscovery, POP3 and IMAP4.exe crash, etc...)

    Thanks.

  • Hi Albert,

If you install SP1 UR5 then it doesn't update the server, you need to install SP1 UR5 on server.

I'd check for any know issues at MSExchangeTeam blog (link given below) and the KB article mentioned for UR to find out known issues and how to prevent from it.

  • Amit,

I'm having problem in installing Update Roll up 6 in my Exchange Server 2007. it filed after calculating disk space process eventhough I still got 91% free disk space.

any idea of where to look at the failed error log ?

  • We have update rollup 7 released, you can try with it directly.

You can increase the logging by running below command to install the UR and it will generate a log file where you can find some useful details about your error.

    Exchange2007-KB960384-x64-EN.msp /lxv* c:\960384.log

  • Amit,

    thanks for your reply.

I'll try to do that next time from CMD, by the way do i have to install .NET Fx 3.5 SP1 update
before I'm doing the Rollup update ?
