Answers

  • you can use Data Sync Service.

however, the Data Sync Service is a hub-spoke topology which requires the hub to be an Azure SQL Database.

so to sync your on-prem to Azure SQL VM, the topology will be something similar to this:

on-prem SQL Server <-> SQL Azure Hub <-> Azure SQL VM

  • Add a new Sync Agent on the Windows Azure Portal.

then Install Microsoft SQL Data Sync Agent on the Windows Azure VM,

On the Sync Agent, Register the Sql Database by Connecting to the SQL Server Database on the VM

After this, Add the Reference Database to the Sync Group. Pointing to Sync Agent

on the VM Machine, then sync.
