How to upgrade SCOM 2007 MP's to 2012 MP's

Question
-
Hi All,
We have couple of MP's in SCOM 2007 R2 where we have targeted most of the rules and monitors to Windows server 2008 R2 full operating server. We have SCOM 2012 R2 as well where we have some some windows server 2012 agents and when we are using the same MP's. it works only for 2008 agents not for 2012 server as rules/monitors are targeted to Windows server 2008 R2 full operating server.
Can someone help me to upgrade the MP to monitor the 2012 server as well so that we can monitor the both 2008 and 2012 agents with same old MP.

1) scom 2012 agent
whether your custom monitor/rule is working on SCOM 2012 agent is depend on your custom monitor/rule setting, case by case consideration.
2) monitor /rule target on Windows server 2008 R2 full operating server
There is no simple way, you should manually create same set of rule/monitor which taget for Windows Server 2012.

Hi Chandan,
Hope this answer helps. You can change the monitoring target of the alerts by editing the unsealed management packs XML so you can target the servers to the right up gradable target.
But be careful - Event based alerts and if the target is altered and if the event log location is not found in the server as per the alert then few alerts in the console will be saying. Ops manager was unable to access the "XXXXX" Event log.
Refer my thread for the details.

You should check the MP document to check whether it is work for your requirement. If it is not support, you should wait MP vendor to updates a new version.
e.g.
Take SQL MP as an example:
If I want to monitor SQL 2012 and 2014 database, i need to download both managment packs:
System Center Management Pack for SQL Server : supports monitor SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008 R2, and SQL Server 2012

System Center Management Pack for SQL Server 2014: supports monitor SQL server 2014 only

Hi Roger,
I am referring to the custom made MP's where we have custom rules and monitors targeted to Windows server 2008 R2 full operating server.
